We’re Jogging

Along!

Many of us will be familiar with the sight of masses
of runners jogging and sprinting round our parks on
Saturday mornings on their local parkrun.

Neil and Anne Ashworth from the Stockport Branch spied an
opportunity for witness – an opportunity they took before it raced
away from them. They want to encourage other branches too, so
here they share some facts about parkrun that may help get things
into shape:
• Every Saturday at 9am, approximately 250,000 runners turn up at
over 850 locations in the UK to run 5km. There is a free parkrun
App which shows the locations and routes.
• Locations are mainly in public parks so there is no issue with
giving out Testaments as long you are not in the way!
• These runs are supported by a team of up to 35,000 volunteers.
• Most runners are in their 20-30s.
• Families take part in parkrun with their teenage children.
• Christians do parkruns. There is a Facebook group called
“Christian Runners UK”.
• And - maybe a surprise - some Ministers take part in parkruns.
