WE PRAYED EVEN HARDER!
A great encouragement to us in the Cardiff Branch (and through it indirectly to the Vale of Glamorgan Branch) has
been the re-opening of the Cardiff and Vale Health Board to receiving copies of the Hospital Testament.
We decided to write to the relatively new Chief Executive of the Board welcoming her to her new position, inviting
her to receive a Presentation Bible and to restart discussions about possibly re-entering the various hospitals in the
area with New Testaments by the bedsides which had previously been removed during the Covid pandemic. Initially,
after about a four or five week delay in a response, thinking we would not hear back (which caused us to pray even
harder!), we received a very effusive letter from Suzanne Rankin, thanking us most sincerely for the partnership we
had developed with them over the past decades and readily agreeing to set apart a slot for us during which she
would be pleased to receive a Bible.
As a result of our meeting, we received her agreement that we could work alongside the various Chaplains in the
Cardiff and Vale Hospitals (Heath Hospital, St David’s, Llandough, Barry Memorial, Velindre and all the smaller units
across the Board area) with a view to making available God’s Word by the bedsides. This is a very sizeable task and,
along with the Glamorgan Vale Branch, we are well advanced now in planning their reinstatement. Please pray that as
a result, many patients and staff, might again be challenged and comforted by God’s Word.
