*Rebekah wasn’t expecting us to stop and talk to her
that afternoon in April. She was sitting on the kerb at the
side of the road and told us this was her shop. She had a WE EXPERIENCED THE
couple of obviously used mains sockets and a wall light
switch, that was the total stock she had available. We GROWING CONFIDENCE
spoke with her and showed her the Gospel verses at the IN SHARING THE GOSPEL
back of the Esperanza magazine. She said she believed
and had said a Prayer of Commitment some years ago.
It was wonderful to meet a fellow believer, and we were
able to introduce her to the local church. Rebekah wasn’t
attending church regularly so we pray this new church *Patrick was walking back to his work as a car mechanic
will support her spiritually and practically. when we bumped into him on a very hot and clammy
afternoon. He was very excited to receive magazines
(Esperanza for himself and Chispa for his grandchildren).
We had a lovely chat about the weather, the suburbs of
Havana and his work and we moved on to spiritual things.
It turned out that Patrick was a Catholic, but he was not
familiar with the concept of a truly personal relationship
with Jesus. We showed him the Gospel verses in the back
of the magazine and asked him about each one in turn,
“do you believe that?” “Yes”, was the answer on each
occasion. Praise the Lord! He wanted to say the Prayer of
Commitment and so, standing on this dusty street, with
cars passing by, Patrick entered the Kingdom of Heaven.
I don’t know about you, but I for one believe the Angels
were rejoicing! The Holy Spirit was doing hard work.
