North Macedonia Scripture Focus

Bill & Grace Thomas (Sheffield), Graham Ellis (Glamorgan Vale) and Jack Liquorish (National Office) travelled to Skopje, North Macedonia and from 1st-8th October 2025 were able to assist in the growing work of GOOD NEWS for Everyone! in this area of Eastern Europe overseen by Jovan Bachovski; on the trip we were delighted to have additional support from Zeljko Popovic and Dragan Koncarevic (Serbia) and Karel Ouzky (Czechia). It was unseasonably cold for the time of year with snow on the nearby hills and rain in the capital on four days. Whilst this put paid to some of the plans we were still able to travel and get stuck in and trust that God enabled us to be in the right places at the right time.

We had the priviledge of attending services at local churches in Kichevo, Prilep and Shuto Orizari (a Romani town) all of whom are seeking to build good relations and share God’s Word in predominantly Muslim areas. In previous years there has been much tension between these faiths so please do pray for the efforts and initiatives of these churches; thanks to the Scriptures and Hope magazines available through GNFE they have been able to put these to great use within these communities and reach people for Christ. The team were also able to visit a number of care homes and take part in a service led by Trinitas Church, Skopje (who had a contingent of young missionaries from Norway visiting), it was a tremendous pleasure to be able to sing worship songs and spend time in prayer with the residents across these establishments.

Several university faculties were visited across Skopje where we distributed Scriptures to the students and where possible engaged them in conversations. Jack offered a Scripture to a student, she took it and asked, “What is it?” Jack simply said “It’s the New Testament” and before he could say anything else she said “Ooo, I’ve been wanting to read this!” and put it into her bag. A great reminder that God had us all in the right place at exactly the right time!
