Bibles For Education
For many years school pupils across the UK have been offered a ‘New Testament and Psalms’. This little red book, part of the Christian Scriptures, has been accepted by most young people regardless of their faith or no faith. At different times in life many have turned to it and found it to be a source of advice and help, comfort and hope. To place an order of school Bibles please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
A visit by our members and the offer of a copy of the New Testament and Psalms (now including the Book of Proverbs) to pupils is a benefit to schools as it helps to ensure that all pupils know about and understand a range of religious beliefs. By offering copies to pupils, we are offering each school an opportunity to consider questions about respect for all and individual liberty, which is a key element of Prevent Duty Guidance.
School Assemblies
For many years, members have been invited to speak to school pupils at school assemblies and offer each pupil a copy of the New Testament and Psalms. That offer still exists. If you are in a school that we have not visited, either as a teacher, a governor, or in any other capacity, and would like suitably qualified members to come and speak at an assembly in your school and offer Testaments to pupils, or if you would like to know more about what we offer please fill in the contact form below and someone will be in touch.
Classroom Lessons
Many schools are no longer holding ‘traditional’ school assemblies. As a result, we have adapted our approach to schools. In many cases we are being asked by schools to be involved with classroom lessons, usually a Religious Education class (Religious and Moral Education in Scotland). In order to ensure that our members are equipped for classroom lessons, a special training programme has been developed and delivered to members around the country by Lat Blaylock from the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE). Lat is the editor of RE Today magazine and an adviser with RE Today and provides professional development opportunities for several thousand primary and secondary school teachers every year in a variety of local authority, diocesan and other contexts and has a national reputation for practicality and inspiration.
Discover Magazine - Exploring The Bible
We are delighted to launch a brand new educational publication from GOOD NEWS for Everyone! called 'Discover Magazine'. With over 90 pages of teaching content The Discover Magazine has been created as a teaching resource for UK primary schools.
The Discover Magazine is free of charge and designed to help teachers in Religious Education (RE) lessons for Upper Key Stage 2 level to teach their class about the Bible and to learn what the Bible says. (Launch date - March 2022). Visit our Free School Resources link to learn more.
Lesson Plans
A set of specially designed curriculum-based lesson plans has been developed by Lat Blaylock for our members and a corresponding set of lessons developed specifically for teachers.
