“My daughter Mandy was given a Gideon New Testament, which I started to read. While reading John 14:6, my eyes were opened – ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.’ This verse spoke to me forcibly. I shall ever be thankful to the Gideons for the New Testament which was put in Mandy’s school.”

The simple yet clear aim of The Gideons is to win people like this to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are very grateful to the many Gideon members and Friends of The Gideons who further their witness by leaving a gift in their Will for the work of The Gideons.

Torchbearers are a unique group of Gideon members and Friends of The Gideons who further their witness by leaving a legacy in their Will for the work of The Gideons. Torchbearers ensure that even after they have been called home to be with the Lord, what God has provided them with during their lifetime can still be used to carry out His will in reaching others for Christ. The name Torchbearers was chosen because, just like Gideon’s 300 men, they will be greatly used of God, but not singled out for public acclaim.

Legal Advice

You can easily add a gift to The Gideons to your existing Will by using a codicil. A codicil is a supplement to a Will that can make changes or amendments. It allows additions to part of your Will. However, in some situations, creating a new Will might be a better option. Please consult a solicitor in relation to these matters.
