    Update 3 Nov 2019:-

Ian made good progress yesterday.  As the sedation was reduced he gradually came back to more consciousness.  He fought to remove tubes (especially one in his throat which was helping his breathing) and apparently this is quite normal.  His wife and sister took the lead in holding his hands to prevent this.  We all spoke encouraging words to him as he slowly realized where he was and why.  By evening he was 'Ian' again, and had his sense of humour!  Today he has apparently had some breakfast, and may be moved to a cardiac ward later. They need to do tests to find out why his heart stopped, and whether a pacemaker or other treatment is needed.  Ian is only 42.  Thank you to everyone for prayers and please keep praying for complete recovery.

    Original request:-

Please pray urgently for our son, Ian Owen.

I have to share our family news of last night.  Our son, Ian Owen, was working away from his London home, in Cirencester during the week and going home for weekends.  Last night, after work, he collapsed while playing football with mates.  He is in intensive care in Bristol hospital, having had a cardiac arrest and been resuscitated.  His wife Amanda arranged child care for Lillian (age 9) and went straight down there.  We are taking the caravan and going to Bristol today so we can be on hand for as long as we need to be.

Please will you all pray for Ian, and pass on this news to all people who know us and will pray for Ian's complete recovery.   Psalm 103:1-6    ..."for He heals all your diseases"...   Mark 6:56  ... Jesus healed all who came to Him.

    Many thanks,
    Love to everyone,
    Anne and Peter

Exmouth Community College is one of the largest schools in the country, with around 400 pupils in Year 7.  The Devon East Gideons have been visiting the school and taking an assembly there for many years.

It now appears that with a change of Head, we may no longer have this opportunity.   As we try to find if there is a way to overturn this apparent decision, we covet the prayers of Gideons for a change of heart by the college.

Also, we have recently heard that a 12 year-old lad from Sidmouth has taken his own life.  We assume that he was a student at Sidmouth College where the branch is due to take a series of R.E. lessons in a fortnight's time.  Please pray for our wisdom and sensitivity when we take these lessons.

    Many thanks,

    Steve Owen
